About Us

Hi! We are Chad, Candy, Cliffy, Clementine, and Clover (Along with Nugget and Coco!)

We are in the midst of packing up our 2900 square foot house to live and travel in a roughly 400 square foot RV while traveling the US.

Why?

Well, if we can say one good thing about the pandemic, it’s that it stripped away some unnecessary things and really helped us to focus our priorities. As weird as this sounds, it made us realize that we all really enjoy spending time with one another…like ALL the time with one another! And it got us thinking about the next year in a way we hadn’t before. We started dreaming about what could be. And those dreams led us to the realization that we are at the perfect time in our lives to take on a new adventure and travel the US in an RV.

We have always wanted to travel and to try to visit as many National Parks as we could, but never figured that it would be possible, thanks to the “normal” of every day life, work schedules, school, kid sports, church life, etc etc.

After living a new kind of normal this past year that didn’t include a lot of those things, it made us think seriously about pursuing a different normal. So, we talked as a family and decided that we are absolutely up for this adventure! We are all in!

Sooooo……

We decided to go ahead and start a blog so that we can share everything with you before we even hit the road! Our blog is called Loving Larger which is inspired from a James Baldwin quote from The Fire Next Time: “If the concept of God has any validity or any use, it can only be to make us larger, freer, and more loving. If God cannot do this, then it is time we got rid of Him.” We believe in the power of being more loving and living larger and freer and we think this journey will help us do that in ways we haven’t experienced yet.

Our desire for our blog/Instagram is to honestly cover every aspect of our journey including deeper thoughts on why we decided to do this, to picking out an RV, downsizing and living minimally, travel route options, RV park membership options, financing and insurance for our RV, homeschooling, the history we learn about our country, the different cultures we experience, the stories of people we meet along the way, our experiences as a multiracial family traveling the US, the ways our faith in people and in God grows or changes, the pros and cons of it all and everything in between! We really hope to encourage a couple of you to come join us some where during our travels too! (May we suggest Glacier National Park?) Or maybe you would just be down to let us park in your driveway for a little bit and drink and visit with each other.

We are so excited to step outside of our comfort zones to learn and grow. So join us as we strive to live smaller while loving larger!
